I normally give top marks unless it's bad but the Crimble was really bad this time. We have been comming here for years and never had a problem before. We came on Saturday 25th March 2017 as Mothers Day was fully booked on the Sunday.

I was suspicious on our arrival when all of the beers had that yeasty taste when the pipes are never cleaned, I had to go onto bottled beer it was so bad. Because we trusted the Crimble for decades so did not suspect thdt the food would be bad too.

Our table for 10 adults and 4 children was 45 minutes late then it went downhill from there.
    1. The empty glasses were never removed once during our 2 hour meal.
    2. My Mum's Salmon was dry and hard so swapped with my sister.
    3. One of the adult Burgers was burned and he had food poisoning the next morning.
    4. The two guys that ordered the pie meals were both ill with food poisioning the next day with one of them not recovering for 5 days..

We spoke to the staff on Mothers day on the Sunday to warn them about the Pies and burger but John the Manager did'nt call us back until the Tuesday for details! It is now April 8th and he has not come back to us at all.

The staff are always wonderful here so I expect that this is definitely a very bad management problem, I think it is under new ownership. There seems to have been some cutbacks on staff and nice touches like the bread rolls and butter. If staff are too busy tu cope then this is where food poisoning becomes a health hazard. The beer lines need to be cleaned weekly or the taste suffers, sales drop, victims become ill then the whole establishment gets a bad reputation.

I am sorry to say none of us will return to the Crimble, Peackock Room, Conservatory or whatever other names it goes by these days as it was such a bad experience this time..

If you have to go because it's a special family occasion order something like
Veg soup, some fruit or a vegetable only meal to eliminate the risk of illness and draught beer is a no no, stick to bottles..

It is a real shame really when a great special family gathering restaurant of excellent good standing loses it's splendour status in such a spectacular way. Rip The Crimble. :-(

A beautiful huge place and setting but bring your own food, just drink bottled beverages.
